TATRA's main design features are: an air cooled engine, sturdy central load-carrying tube and swinging half-axles all round. The axles kinematics together with the backbone tube make a stable basis to carry a body that is exceptionally immune from side rocking, which makes it possible for the truck to go off-road at high speed with just minimum vibrations.

• These vehicles have been designed for rough terrain on purpose. They have not been derived from on-road vehicles, as it is common elsewhere
