Brisbane Truck Show
May 16th – 19th
Tatra’s first foray into the Brisbane Show was in 2017, when it debuted right next to one of the main entrance doors with a knockout 8×8 tipper that looked ready to cart a mountain.
This year Tatra’s back, but with a milder version of its unique off-road technology on display.
The Phoenix 6×6 tipper is all-Tatra from the ground up, but has a PACCAR 13-litre MX engine, 16-speed ZF AS-Tronic AMT transmission and is topped off by a fully electronic cab from the DAF CF range.
Tatra’s all-wheel drive system depends on a central tubular chassis with modular swing-axle components added as required.
The Phoenix is a fairly simple set-up in Tatra terms. A 6×6 tipper with 340kW and 2,300Nm of torque, the truck on display has an ultra heavy-duty three-way tipper body from Czech-based VS Mont. It has swinging tailgate with double rear doors, hydraulic sides on left and right with Australian homologation.
Tatra trucks will never win a tare weight battle, but instead bring a bullet-proof central tube chassis and modular driveline to the worst possible off-road truck tasks.
The Phoenix tipper is a demo unit and will be shared between Sydney and Mackay immediately after the show, depending on the enquiry.
